銀座の路地裏に、カウンター八席だけの寿司屋があった。

In a Ginza back alley stood a sushi restaurant with only eight counter seats.

四十九歳の鯛子は、この店の女主人であり、唯一の職人だった。ふくよかな体に、魚の目利きで鍛えられた鋭い眼差し。

Forty-nine-year-old Taiko was both the proprietress and sole chef of this establishment. Her full figure and sharp gaze honed by years of fish selection.

「江戸前寿司は、職人の技と心意気。握りに人生を込めます」

第二章 | Chapter Two: 予約の取れない店 (The Impossible Reservation)

世界的なフードライターが、三年待ちの予約を経てやってきた。

A world-renowned food writer arrived after a three-year wait for a reservation.

鯛子は彼を一番良い席に座らせた。彼女との距離は、わずか三十センチ。

Taiko seated him in the best seat. The distance between them was merely thirty centimeters.

「今日のネタは、私が築地で選んだ最高のもの」

"Today's fish are the finest I selected at Tsukiji."

彼女の豊満な手が、酢飯を優しく握る。

Her plump hands gently shaped the vinegared rice.

第三章 | Chapter Three: 最後の一貫 (The Final Piece)

「この寿司は、メニューにないもの」鯛子は囁いた。

"This sushi isn't on the menu," Taiko whispered.

彼女は特別な魚を取り出した。目の前で、芸術的に捌いていく。

She brought out a special fish. Before his eyes, she filleted it artistically.

「この魚は、私と同じ歳。四十九年、海で生きてきました」

"This fish is the same age as me. It lived forty-nine years in the sea."

彼女の大きな瞳が、彼を見つめていた。

Her large eyes gazed at him.

第四章 | Chapter Four: 朝の仕込み (Morning Preparation)

夜が明け、鯛子は築地への仕入れに向かった。

As dawn broke, Taiko headed to Tsukiji for purchasing.

「一緒に来ますか？寿司の本当の始まりを見せましょう」

"Will you come with me? I'll show you the true beginning of sushi."

二人で市場を歩き、彼女は魚を選んでいった。

They walked through the market together, and she selected fish.

「また、予約を入れてください。次は、あなただけの特別なコースをお作りします」

"Please make another reservation. Next time, I'll prepare a special course just for you."

築地の朝日が、二人の約束を照らしていた。
