越前の和紙職人 | The Washi Paper Maker of Echizen

第一章 | Chapter One: 紙の里 (Village of Paper)

福井の山間に、越前和紙の里があった。

In the mountains of Fukui lay the village of Echizen washi.

四十七歳の紙子は、この里で最も技術の高い和紙職人だった。ふくよかな体に、楮の香りを纏った手、そして紙を愛する優しい瞳。

Forty-seven-year-old Kamiko was the most skilled washi artisan in this village. Her full figure, hands carrying the scent of kozo mulberry, and gentle eyes that loved paper.

「越前和紙は、千五百年の歴史。私は、その歴史の一部なのです」

"Echizen washi has fifteen hundred years of history. I am part of that history."

第二章 | Chapter Two: 漉きの技 (Art of Paper Making)

京都の美術修復士が、特別な和紙を求めて訪れた。

A Kyoto art restorer came seeking special washi.

紙子は彼を作業場に案内した。冷たい水が、簀桁を流れる。

Kamiko led him to the workshop. Cold water flowed over the screen mold.

「和紙漉きは、水との対話。手の感覚で、紙の厚さを調整します」

"Paper making is a dialogue with water. I adjust paper thickness by touch."

彼女の豊満な腕が、簀桁を優雅に揺らしていた。

Her plump arms elegantly shook the mold.

第三章 | Chapter Three: 月光の紙 (Moonlight Paper)

「満月の夜に漉く紙は、特別な輝きがあります」紙子は囁いた。

"Paper made on a full moon night has a special glow," Kamiko whispered.

月明かりの下、彼女は特別な紙を漉き始めた。

Under moonlight, she began making special paper.

「この紙には、月の光が宿ります。触ってみてください」

"This paper holds moonlight. Please touch it."

彼女の濡れた手が、彼の手を導いて紙に触れさせた。

Her wet hands guided his to touch the paper.

第四章 | Chapter Four: 朝の紙干し (Morning Paper Drying)

夜が明け、二人は紙干し場に立っていた。

As dawn broke, they stood at the paper drying area.

「朝日に透ける和紙が、一番美しい」紙子は微笑んだ。

"Washi translucent in morning sun is most beautiful," Kamiko smiled.

彼女の温かい手が、彼に一枚の紙を手渡した。

Her warm hands passed him a sheet of paper.

「これは、あなたのために漉いた特別な紙。また、越前に来てください」

"This is special paper I made just for you. Please come to Echizen again."

越前の朝日が、二人の物語を照らしていた。

The Echizen sunrise illuminated their story.
