会津の漆器職人 | The Lacquerware Artist of Aizu

第一章 | Chapter One: 雪国の漆 (Lacquer of Snow Country)

福島県会津若松の古い町並みに、漆器工房があった。

In the old streets of Aizu-Wakamatsu, Fukushima, stood a lacquerware workshop.

四十八歳の漆美は、この地で最も技術の高い漆器職人だった。ふくよかな体に、漆で少し染まった指先、そして作品を見つめる真剣な眼差し。

Forty-eight-year-old Urushimi was the most skilled lacquerware artisan in this land. Her full figure, fingertips slightly stained with lacquer, and serious gaze when examining her work.

「会津漆器は、四百年の歴史。雪国の厳しさが、この艶を生むのです」

"Aizu lacquerware has four hundred years of history. The harshness of snow country creates this luster."

第二章 | Chapter Two: 蒔絵の夜 (Night of Maki-e)

アンティーク収集家が、特別な作品を求めて訪れた。

An antique collector came seeking a special piece.

漆美は彼を工房の奥に案内した。金粉と貝殻が、月明かりに輝いていた。

Urushimi led him to the back of the workshop. Gold powder and seashells sparkled in moonlight.

「蒔絵は、漆器の華。この金粉に、私の魂を込めます」

"Maki-e is the flower of lacquerware. I pour my soul into this gold powder."

彼女の豊満な手が、繊細に金粉を蒔いていく。

Her plump hands delicately sprinkled gold powder.

第三章 | Chapter Three: 漆かぶれの秘密 (Secret of Lacquer Rash)

「漆に触れると、かぶれることがあります」漆美は囁いた。

"Touching lacquer can cause a rash," Urushimi whispered.

彼女は自分の腕を見せた。漆かぶれの痕が、かすかに残っている。

She showed him her arm. Faint traces of lacquer rash remained.

「でも、漆と生きると決めた者は、やがて漆と一体になるのです」

"But those who choose to live with lacquer eventually become one with it."

彼女の肌は、漆のように艶やかに輝いていた。

Her skin glowed with a luster like lacquer.

第四章 | Chapter Four: 朝の会津 (Aizu Morning)

夜が明け、会津は雪に包まれていた。

As dawn broke, Aizu was wrapped in snow.

「この雪景色が、会津漆器の色を決めます」漆美は微笑んだ。

"This snowscape determines the colors of Aizu lacquerware," Urushimi smiled.

彼女の温かい手が、完成した作品を彼に手渡した。

Her warm hands passed him the completed piece.

「また、会津に来てください。次は、あなただけの作品をお作りします」

"Please come to Aizu again. Next time, I'll create a piece just for you."

会津の雪が、二人の約束を包んでいた。

Aizu's snow embraced their promise.
