The Silversmith of Tiznit

الفصل الأول | Chapter One

أَصْنَعُ الحُلِيَّ الفِضِّيَّةَ فِي تِزْنِيتَ مُنْذُ أَرْبَعِينَ سَنَةً.

I have made silver jewelry in Tiznit for forty years.

جَاءَتْ جَامِعَةُ تُحَفٍ تَبْحَثُ عَنِ الأَصَالَةِ.

A collector came looking for authenticity.

"أُرِيدُ قِطَعًا أَمَازِيغِيَّةً قَدِيمَةً."

"I want ancient Amazigh pieces."

الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two

كَانَتْ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، أَنِيقَةً، بِعُيُونٍ تَفْهَمُ الفَنَّ.

She was in her fifties, elegant, with eyes that understand art.

"عِنْدِي قِطَعٌ لَمْ يَرَهَا أَحَدٌ."

"I have pieces no one has seen."

"أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَرَاهَا."

"I want to see them."

الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three

فَتَحْتُ الخِزَانَةَ السِّرِّيَّةَ.

I opened the secret cabinet.

"هَذِهِ مَجْمُوعَةُ جَدِّي."

"This is my grandfather's collection."

"يَا إِلَهِي... هَذِهِ تُحَفٌ!"

"Oh my God... these are treasures!"

الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four

أَخَذَتْ عِقْدًا فِضِّيًّا وَوَضَعَتْهُ عَلَى صَدْرِهَا.

She took a silver necklace and placed it on her chest.

"كَيْفَ يَبْدُو؟"

"How does it look?"

"الفِضَّةُ تَلِيقُ بِكِ... لَكِنَّكِ أَجْمَلُ مِنْهَا."

"Silver suits you... but you are more beautiful than it."

الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five

"هَلْ هَذِهِ طَرِيقَةُ البَيْعِ هُنَا؟" ضَحِكَتْ.

"Is this the selling method here?" she laughed.

"لَا... هَذِهِ طَرِيقَةُ القَلْبِ."

"No... this is the method of the heart."

نَظَرَتْ إِلَيَّ بِاهْتِمَامٍ جَدِيدٍ.

She looked at me with new interest.

الفصل السادس | Chapter Six

"لِمَاذَا أَنْتَ وَحِيدٌ فِي هَذِهِ الوَرْشَةِ؟"

"Why are you alone in this workshop?"

"الفِضَّةُ رَفِيقَتِي مُنْذُ مَاتَتْ زَوْجَتِي."

"Silver has been my companion since my wife died."

"رُبَّمَا تَحْتَاجُ رَفِيقَةً مِنْ لَحْمٍ وَدَمٍ."

"Perhaps you need a companion of flesh and blood."

الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven

تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، صَنَعْتُ لَهَا خَاتَمًا.

That night, I made her a ring.

"هَذَا يَحْمِلُ اسْمَكِ بِالأَمَازِيغِيَّةِ."

"This carries your name in Amazigh."

"وَأَنَا سَأَحْمِلُ قَلْبَكَ..."

"And I will carry your heart..."

الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight

اِشْتَرَتْ المَجْمُوعَةَ كُلَّهَا.

She bought the entire collection.

وَاِشْتَرَتْ قَلْبِي مَعَهَا.

And bought my heart with it.

"سَأَعُودُ لِأَرَى مَاذَا صَنَعْتَ لِي."

"I will return to see what you made for me."

الخاتمة | Conclusion

الفِضَّةُ تَدُومُ لِقُرُونٍ.

Silver lasts for centuries.

وَحُبُّنَا مَصْنُوعٌ مِنَ الفِضَّةِ.

And our love is made of silver.

يَلْمَعُ كُلَّمَا لَمَسْنَاهُ.

It shines whenever we touch it.
