Oracabessa Ocean
"Marine sanctuary ranger Ingrid protects Jamaica's sea life, and when documentary filmmaker Luke capsizes near her reef, she rescues him and shows him depths he never knew existed."
The coral was dying. Luke needed footage that would change minds. Instead, his boat flipped in rough water.
Ingrid appeared from nowhere, thick and powerful, hauling him to safety like he weighed nothing.
"Yuh almost die for some fish?" she demanded.
"For the reef. For everything."
Her expression softened. "Then yuh need to do it right. Come with mi."
She showed him the sanctuary properly. Protected zones. Recovery areas. Life returning where humans weren't allowed.
"Yuh love this place," he observed.
"Mi love all of it. The ocean. The creatures. The fight." She looked at him. "What do yuh love?"
"I'm figuring that out."
"Figure faster." She swam ahead. "The good stuff waits for no one."
Figuring happened in her beach shack. Underwater footage forgotten, her thick body his entire focus.
"Yes! Luke! Right there!"
Salt on their skin, waves outside, connection that went deeper than any dive.
"Don't stop! Yuh finding the depths now!"
The documentary won awards. The sanctuary gained protection. Luke and Ingrid gained each other.
"Yuh staying?" she asked.
"The ocean needs protecting. You need help."
"Is that the only reason?"
"You know it's not."
Luke films conservation worldwide now.
But Oracabessa is home. Ingrid is home.
The ocean brought them together.
Love keeps them there.
Depths explored.
Forever swimming.
