الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَعْمَلُ حَاوِيَ ثَعَابِينَ فِي جَامِعِ الفَنَّا.
I work as a snake charmer in Jemaa el-Fna.
جَاءَتْ صَانِعَةُ وَثَائِقِيَّاتٍ تُصَوِّرُ التُّرَاثَ.
A documentary maker came filming heritage.
"أُرِيدُ تَصْوِيرَكَ وَأَنْتَ تَعْمَلُ."
"I want to film you working."
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، شُجَاعَةً، لَا تَخَافُ شَيْئًا.
She was in her fifties, brave, fearing nothing.
"الثَّعَابِينُ لَا تُخِيفُكِ؟"
"Snakes don't scare you?"
"أَخَافُ مِنَ الوَحْدَةِ أَكْثَرَ."
"I fear loneliness more."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
صَوَّرَتْنِي سَاعَاتٍ.
She filmed me for hours.
"كَيْفَ تَتَحَكَّمُ فِي الثُّعْبَانِ؟"
"How do you control the snake?"
"بِالمُوسِيقَى وَالاِحْتِرَامِ."
"With music and respect."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
"الاِحْتِرَامُ؟"
"Respect?"
"نَعَمْ... الثُّعْبَانُ يَشْعُرُ بِنِيَّتِكَ."
"Yes... the snake senses your intention."
"مِثْلَ النِّسَاءِ." ضَحِكَتْ.
"Like women." She laughed.
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"لِمَاذَا تَعْمَلِينَ وَحْدَكِ؟"
"Why do you work alone?"
"زَوْجِي مَاتَ... وَتَرَكَنِي مَعَ الكَامِيرَا."
"My husband died... left me with the camera."
"الكَامِيرَا وَالثُّعْبَانُ... رِفَاقٌ غَرِيبُونَ."
"Camera and snake... strange companions."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
بَعْدَ التَّصْوِيرِ، دَعَوْتُهَا لِشُرْبِ الشَّايِ.
After filming, I invited her for tea.
"أَنْتَ رَجُلٌ مُثِيرٌ لِلاِهْتِمَامِ."
"You are an interesting man."
"أَحَيَاتُكِ مُثِيرَةٌ أَيْضًا."
"Your life is also interesting."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فِي بَيْتِي.
That night, in my house.
"جَسَدُكَ قَوِيٌّ كَالثُّعْبَانِ."
"Your body is strong like a snake."
"وَأَنْتِ سَاحِرَةٌ كَالمُوسِيقَى."
"And you are enchanting like music."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
أَكْمَلَتِ الوَثَائِقِيَّ وَعَرَضَتْهُ.
She finished the documentary and screened it.
كُنْتُ نَجْمَهُ.
I was its star.
"شُكْرًا... أَعَدْتَ لِي الحَيَاةَ."
"Thank you... you gave me life back."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
الثُّعْبَانُ يَرْقُصُ عَلَى المُوسِيقَى.
The snake dances to music.
وَأَنَا رَقَصْتُ عَلَى إِيقَاعِ قَلْبِهَا.
And I danced to the rhythm of her heart.
حُبٌّ سَاحِرٌ فِي السَّاحَةِ.
An enchanting love in the square.
