The Flower Seller of Kunming

(Eternal Spring)

Kunming is called the Spring City, and Dounan Flower Market is Asia's largest fresh flower trading market.

At three in the morning in the flower market, there was a most diligent flower farmer named Yang Chunhua, forty-seven, with a full figure and skin bronzed to a healthy wheat color by the highland sun.

"Flowers have spirits," she often said. "Treat them well, and they bloom for you."

(Midnight Flower Market)

That dawn, a wedding planner from Shanghai came to purchase flowers.

"Sister Yang," he watched her skillfully sort roses, "your flowers are always the freshest."

Chunhua raised her head, wiping sweat from her forehead, her ample bosom rising and falling with the motion: "Because I raise them with my heart."

She handed him a freshly bloomed red rose: "This one's for you, no charge."

(Moonlight in the Flower Fields)

After the market closed, she invited him to see her flower fields.

"This is my rose garden," she spread her arms under the moonlight. "Thirty acres."

The air was filled with the fragrance of roses. She turned, her full figure among the flowers like the most beautiful bloom.

"In the flower fields," she approached him, "the roses witness everything."

She undid her headscarf, her long hair cascading like a waterfall, then her outer garment...

That night, they embraced in the sea of roses.

(The Language of Flowers)

"Every flower has its language," at dawn, she wove a flower crown for him.

"What do roses represent?"

"Love." She placed the crown on his head. "But I prefer sunflowers."

"Why?"

"Because they always follow the sun." She leaned into his arms. "Like me, I'll always be here waiting for you."

In Kunming's sea of flowers, some love is more brilliant than the blooms...
