第一章 | Chapter One
克拉玛依，中国第一个大油田所在地。
Karamay, site of China's first major oil field.
油田食堂最受欢迎的厨师叫马红梅，四十七岁，回族人，身材丰满，做的大盘鸡和拌面是整个油田最好吃的。
The most popular chef in the oil field cafeteria was Ma Hongmei, forty-seven, Hui ethnicity, with a full figure. Her big plate chicken and mixed noodles were the best in the entire oil field.
"石油工人最辛苦，" 她常说，"吃好了才有力气干活。"
"Oil workers work the hardest," she often said. "Good food gives them energy to work."
第二章 | Chapter Two
那年冬天，一位新来的工程师被分配到最偏远的井站。
That winter, a new engineer was assigned to the most remote well station.
每天只有红梅做的便当陪伴他度过漫长的值班夜。
Every day, only the lunch boxes Hongmei made accompanied him through long night shifts.
"马姐，" 他每次回来都第一个跑到食堂，"您做的菜真好吃。"
"Sister Ma," every time he returned he ran first to the cafeteria. "Your cooking is so delicious."
红梅看着这个瘦弱的年轻人，丰满的脸上带着心疼："多吃点，你太瘦了。"
Hongmei looked at this thin young man, distress on her full face: "Eat more, you're too thin."
第三章 | Chapter Three
那年春节，他因为值班不能回家。
That Spring Festival, he couldn't go home because of duty.
红梅留下来陪他，做了一桌年夜饭。
Hongmei stayed to keep him company, making a full New Year's Eve dinner.
"这是我第一次和人单独过年，" 她说，丰腴的身影在厨房灯光下格外温暖。
"This is my first time celebrating New Year's Eve alone with someone," she said, her full figure especially warm in the kitchen light.
"我也是。" 他举起酒杯，"敬马姐，敬这顿年夜饭。"
"Me too." He raised his glass. "To Sister Ma, to this New Year's dinner."
第四章 | Chapter Four
"我要调去总部了，" 春天，他告诉她。
"I'm being transferred to headquarters," he told her in spring.
红梅正在包饺子，丰满的手微微颤抖。
Hongmei was making dumplings, her full hands trembling slightly.
"带上这些饺子，" 她将一大盒饺子塞给他，"想家了就煮来吃。"
"Take these dumplings," she stuffed a large box into his hands. "When you miss home, cook them."
"马姐..." 他握住她的手，"跟我一起去吧。"
"Sister Ma..." He held her hand. "Come with me."
