On the tea mountains of Hangzhou's Longjing Village, a curvaceous tea picker harvests spring and love with her hands..."
The Longjing Tea Picker of Hangzhou
(Pre-Qingming Tea)
Spring in Hangzhou's Longjing Village begins with the first wisp of tea fragrance.
The village's most famous tea picker was named Wu Mingzhu, forty-six, with a full figure, yet she could walk like the wind on steep tea mountains.
"Pre-Qingming tea is the most precious," she often said, "because it absorbs the essence of the entire winter."
(Encounter on the Tea Mountain)
That year before Qingming, a Korean tea master came to Longjing Village to purchase premium tea.
"Sister Wu," he followed her up the mountain, panting, "how do you climb so fast?"
Mingzhu looked back at him, her full figure half-hidden in her tea-picking clothes: "Because I grew up on this mountain. Come, let me help you."
Her hand was warm and strong, and his heart began to race.
(One Bud, One Leaf)
"Picking Longjing requires 'one bud, one leaf,'" she moved among the tea bushes, teaching him to pick.
She stood behind him, her ample bosom against his back, teaching hand-to-hand.
"Can you feel it?" Her breath was warm. "This is the right tenderness."
He turned and found her face inches away.
"Tea must be picked while tender," she whispered. "Feelings too."
(Lingering in Tea Fragrance)
That night, she invited him home to taste freshly roasted tea she'd made herself.
In the steam of roasting tea, she undid her tea-picking clothes.
"This tea must be roasted by hand," she said, placing his hand on her body, "to have warmth."
The next morning, they went up the mountain to pick tea together.
"Will you come next year?" she asked.
"Every year before Qingming," he said, "I will come."
In the fragrance of Longjing, some flavors last longer than tea...
