第一章 | Chapter One: 新中国电影摇篮 (Cradle of New China's Cinema)

长春电影制片厂是新中国第一家电影制片厂，培养了无数影星。

Changchun Film Studio was New China's first film studio, cultivating countless movie stars.

年过半百的女演员孙月华，四十九岁，曾是八十年代的当红花旦，如今身材丰满，依然活跃在银幕上。

The actress Sun Yuehua, forty-nine, was once a leading lady in the 1980s. Now with a full figure, she remained active on screen.

"演戏是一辈子的事，" 她常说，"和身材无关。"

"Acting is a lifetime endeavor," she often said. "It has nothing to do with body shape."

那年，她接了一部讲述知青岁月的电影，扮演一位中年母亲。

That year, she took a film about the educated youth era, playing a middle-aged mother.

"孙老师，" 年轻的导演是她二十年前合作过的摄影师的儿子，"能和您合作是我的荣幸。"

"Teacher Sun," the young director was the son of a cinematographer she'd worked with twenty years ago. "It's my honor to work with you."

月华看着他，恍惚间仿佛看到了他父亲的影子。

Yuehua looked at him, in a trance seeming to see his father's shadow.

"你长得真像你爸爸，" 她说，丰满的脸上带着怀念。

"You look so much like your father," she said, nostalgia on her full face.

拍摄一场感情戏时，她落泪了——不只是因为剧本。

During a emotional scene, she cried—not just because of the script.

"孙老师，您的表演太真实了，" 导演喊停，"能聊聊吗？"

"Teacher Sun, your performance was too real," the director called cut. "Can we talk?"

深夜的化妆间里，她告诉他：她和他父亲曾有一段无法说出口的感情。

In the makeup room late at night, she told him: she and his father once had a love that couldn't be spoken.

"那为什么..."

"Then why..."

"因为那个年代，" 她叹息，丰腴的身躯仿佛承载着整个时代的重量，"有太多身不由己。"

"Because in that era," she sighed, her full figure seeming to carry the weight of an entire age, "there was too much we couldn't control."

他拥抱了她，在那一刻，时空仿佛错乱。

He embraced her. In that moment, time seemed to blur.

"这部电影杀青了，" 首映礼上，她拿着奖杯，"但故事还在继续。"

"This film has wrapped," at the premiere, she held a trophy, "but the story continues."

他站在台下，看着她丰满的身影在聚光灯下熠熠生辉。

He stood below the stage, watching her full figure gleaming under the spotlight.

"我父亲如果在天有灵，" 他后来对她说，"一定希望您幸福。"

"If my father is watching from heaven," he later told her, "he would surely want you to be happy."

她笑了，眼中闪着泪光："那你愿意... 让我幸福吗？"

She laughed, tears glistening in her eyes: "Then are you willing... to make me happy?"
