الفصل الأول | Chapter One
مَخْبَزُنَا فَتَحَهُ جَدِّي الفَرَنْسِيُّ سَنَةَ 1920.
Our bakery was opened by my French grandfather in 1920.
أَخْبِزُ الخُبْزَ الفَرَنْسِيَّ بِنَكْهَةٍ مَغْرِبِيَّةٍ.
I bake French bread with Moroccan flavor.
جَاءَتْ مُؤَرِّخَةُ طَعَامٍ تَدْرُسُ تُرَاثَ الاِسْتِعْمَارِ.
A food historian came studying colonial heritage.
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، فَرَنْسِيَّةً مِنْ أَصْلٍ مَغْرِبِيٍّ.
She was in her fifties, French of Moroccan origin.
"خُبْزُكُمْ يَذْكُرُنِي بِجَدَّتِي!"
"Your bread reminds me of my grandmother!"
"جَدَّتُكِ كَانَتْ مَغْرِبِيَّةً؟"
"Your grandmother was Moroccan?"
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
"نَعَمْ... هَاجَرَتْ إِلَى فَرَنْسَا."
"Yes... she emigrated to France."
"وَأَنْتِ عُدْتِ."
"And you returned."
"أَبْحَثُ عَنْ جُذُورِي."
"Searching for my roots."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
أَرَيْتُهَا وَصَفَاتِ جَدِّي القَدِيمَةَ.
I showed her my grandfather's old recipes.
"هَذِهِ كُنُوزٌ!"
"These are treasures!"
"مَزِيجُ ثَقَافَتَيْنِ."
"A blend of two cultures."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"مِثْلِي أَنَا."
"Like me."
"وَمِثْلِي... أَنَا نِصْفُ فَرَنْسِيٍّ."
"And like me... I'm half French."
"إِذَنْ نَحْنُ نَفْهَمُ بَعْضَنَا."
"Then we understand each other."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"زَوْجَتِي كَانَتْ مَغْرِبِيَّةً خَالِصَةً... لَمْ تَفْهَمْنِي."
"My wife was pure Moroccan... she didn't understand me."
"مَاذَا حَدَثَ؟"
"What happened?"
"مَاتَتْ... وَأَنَا وَحِيدٌ مُنْذُ ذَلِكَ."
"She died... and I've been alone since."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، بَيْنَ رَائِحَةِ الخُبْزِ الطَّازَجِ.
That night, among fresh bread smell.
"جَسَدُكِ دَافِئٌ كَالفُرْنِ."
"Your body is warm like the oven."
"وَأَنْتَ لَذِيذٌ كَالكْرُوَاسُونِ."
"And you are delicious like croissant."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
كَتَبَتْ كِتَابًا عَنِ المَطْبَخِ الفَرَنْسِيِّ-المَغْرِبِيِّ.
She wrote a book about French-Moroccan cuisine.
وَمَخْبَزُنَا فِيهِ.
And our bakery in it.
"تُرَاثُنَا... وَحُبُّنَا."
"Our heritage... and our love."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
الخُبْزُ يَجْمَعُ الثَّقَافَاتِ.
Bread brings cultures together.
وَحُبُّنَا جَمَعَ قَلْبَيْنِ.
And our love brought two hearts together.
طَازَجٌ كُلَّ صَبَاحٍ.
Fresh every morning.
