Chapter One: The Ruins of Gedi
في غيدي، المَدينَةِ المَنْسِيَّةِ بَيْنَ الأَشْجارِ، عاشَ آخِرُ صائِغٍ في القَرْيَةِ المُجاوِرَةِ لِلأَطْلالِ. كانَتْ زَوْجَتُهُ، سَلْمى بِنْتُ خَلَفٍ، تَعيشُ حَياةً مَمْلولَةً بَيْنَما هُوَ مُنْهَمِكٌ في عَمَلِهِ.
In Gedi, the forgotten city among the trees, lived the last goldsmith in the village adjacent to the ruins. His wife, Salma bint Khalaf, lived a boring life while he was absorbed in his work.
كانَتْ سَلْمى في الرّابِعَةِ وَالثَّلاثينَ مِنْ عُمْرِها، امْرَأَةً سَواحِلِيَّةً ذاتَ جَمالٍ بَرِّيٍّ. بَشَرَتُها سَمْراءُ داكِنَةٌ، وَعَيْناها سَوْداوانِ عَميقَتانِ. جَسَدُها مُمْتَلِئٌ قَوِيٌّ مِنَ العَمَلِ في الحُقولِ، بِثَدْيَيْنِ صَلْبَيْنِ وَوِرْكَيْنِ عَريضَتَيْنِ.
Salma was thirty-four years of age, a Swahili woman of wild beauty. Her skin was dark brown, and her eyes were deep black. Her body was full and strong from work in the fields, with firm breasts and wide hips.
الفصل الثاني: الباحِثُ الشّابّ
Chapter Two: The Young Researcher
جاءَ إلى الأَطْلالِ باحِثٌ شابٌّ مِنْ زَنْجِبارَ اسْمُهُ طارِقُ بنُ سَعيدٍ. كانَ في الثّامِنَةِ وَالعِشْرينَ مِنْ عُمْرِهِ، يَدْرُسُ آثارَ المُدُنِ السّاحِلِيَّةِ القَديمَةِ.
A young researcher from Zanzibar named Tariq ibn Said came to the ruins. He was twenty-eight years of age, studying the remains of ancient coastal cities.
"أَبْحَثُ عَنْ مَكانٍ لِلإقامَةِ،" قالَ لِسَلْمى.
"I am looking for a place to stay," he said to Salma.
"عِنْدَنا غُرْفَةٌ فارِغَةٌ. زَوْجي يَعْمَلُ طَوالَ اللَّيْلِ في الوَرْشَةِ."
"We have an empty room. My husband works all night in the workshop."
"طَوالَ اللَّيْلِ؟"
"All night?"
"نَعَمْ. وَأَنا أَنامُ وَحْدي."
"Yes. And I sleep alone."
الفصل الثالث: الاكْتِشاف
Chapter Three: The Discovery
أَخَذَتْهُ ذاتَ يَوْمٍ لِتُريَهُ مَكاناً سِرِّيّاً في الأَطْلالِ.
One day she took him to show him a secret place in the ruins.
"هُنا كانَتْ حُجْرَةُ السُّلْطانِ الخاصَّةُ،" قالَتْ. "يُقالُ إنَّهُ كانَ يَجْتَمِعُ هُنا بِجَوارِيهِ."
"Here was the Sultan's private chamber," she said. "It is said he would meet with his concubines here."
"كَيْفَ تَعْرِفينَ هَذا؟"
"How do you know this?"
"القَرْيَةُ تَتَذَكَّرُ." اقْتَرَبَتْ مِنْهُ. "وَأَنا أَتَخَيَّلُ أَحْياناً ماذا كانَ يَحْدُثُ هُنا."
"The village remembers." She approached him. "And I sometimes imagine what used to happen here."
الفصل الرابع: الأَسْرار
Chapter Four: The Secrets
"ماذا تَتَخَيَّلينَ؟" سَأَلَها طارِقٌ بِصَوْتٍ مَبْحوحٍ.
"What do you imagine?" asked Tariq in a husky voice.
"أَتَخَيَّلُ السُّلْطانَ يُمَزِّقُ ثِيابَ جارِيَتِهِ هُنا." لَمَسَتْ صَدْرَهُ. "يَلْمِسُها هَكَذا."
"I imagine the Sultan tearing his concubine's clothes here." She touched his chest. "Touching her like this."
"وَماذا بَعْدُ؟"
"And then what?"
خَلَعَتْ ثَوْبَها. "ثُمَّ يَراها هَكَذا."
She removed her garment. "Then he sees her like this."
الفصل الخامس: الكَنْز
Chapter Five: The Treasure
جَسَدُها السّاحِلِيُّ المُمْتَلِئُ في ضَوْءِ الشَّمْسِ المُتَسَلِّلِ مِنَ الأَطْلالِ. ثَدْياها الصَّلْبانِ بِحَلَماتٍ سَوْداءَ. بَطْنُها مُسَطَّحَةٌ مِنَ العَمَلِ. وِرْكاها عَريضَتانِ قَوِيَّتانِ.
Her full coastal body in the sunlight filtering through the ruins. Her firm breasts with black nipples. Her belly flat from work. Her hips wide and strong.
"أَنْتِ أَجْمَلُ كَنْزٍ في غيدي،" هَمَسَ.
"You are the most beautiful treasure in Gedi," he whispered.
"فَاحْفُرْ أَعْمَقَ."
"Then dig deeper."
الفصل السادس: الحَفْر
Chapter Six: The Excavation
دَفَعَها إلى الجِدارِ القَديمِ وَجَثا أَمامَها. فَتَحَ ساقَيْها وَدَفَنَ وَجْهَهُ بَيْنَهُما.
He pushed her against the ancient wall and knelt before her. He opened her legs and buried his face between them.
"آهْ!" صَرَخَتْ. صَوْتُها يَتَرَدَّدُ في الأَطْلالِ.
"Ah!" she screamed. Her voice echoed in the ruins.
لَعِقَها بِشَغَفِ الباحِثِ الَّذي وَجَدَ كَنْزَهُ. لَعِقَها حَتّى وَصَلَتْ إلى ذُرْوَتِها.
He licked her with the passion of a researcher who found his treasure. He licked her until she reached her climax.
صَرَخَتْ وَالأَطْلالُ تَشْهَدُ.
She screamed and the ruins witnessed.
الفصل السابع: التَّنْقيب
Chapter Seven: The Digging
"الآنَ أُريدُ أَنْ أَحْفُرَ أَعْمَقَ!" لَهَثَتْ.
"Now I want you to dig deeper!" she panted.
خَلَعَ ثِيابَهُ وَدَخَلَها وَهِيَ مُسْنَدَةٌ إلى الجِدارِ القَديمِ.
He removed his clothes and entered her while she was leaning against the ancient wall.
"يا اللهِ!" صَرَخَتْ. "أَنْتَ عَميقٌ جِدّاً!"
"My God!" she screamed. "You are very deep!"
رَفَعَ ساقَيْها حَوْلَ خَصْرِهِ وَضَرَبَ بِقُوَّةٍ. الجِدارُ القَديمُ يَهْتَزُّ.
He raised her legs around his waist and thrust with force. The ancient wall shook.
الفصل الثامن: الذُّرْوَة
Chapter Eight: The Climax
وَضَعَها عَلى الأَرْضِ القَديمَةِ. صَعِدَ فَوْقَها وَدَخَلَها بِعُمْقٍ أَكْبَرَ.
He laid her on the ancient ground. He climbed above her and entered her with greater depth.
"نَعَمْ! نَعَمْ!" صَرَخَتْ.
"Yes! Yes!" she screamed.
وَصَلا إلى الذُّرْوَةِ مَعاً. صَرَخا وَالأَطْلالُ تَشْهَدُ عَلى شَهْوَةٍ جَديدَةٍ بَعْدَ قُرونٍ مِنَ الصَّمْتِ.
They reached the climax together. They screamed and the ruins witnessed new passion after centuries of silence.
الخاتِمَة
Epilogue
بَقِيَ طارِقٌ في غيدي أَشْهُراً. وَكُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ، بَيْنَما الصّائِغُ يَعْمَلُ، كانَ هُوَ "يَعْمَلُ" مَعَ زَوْجَتِهِ في الأَطْلالِ.
Tariq stayed in Gedi for months. And every night, while the goldsmith worked, he would "work" with his wife in the ruins.
وَيُقالُ إنَّهُ كَتَبَ أَطْروحَةً عَنْ غيدي، لكِنَّ أَهَمَّ اكْتِشافاتِهِ لَمْ تُنْشَرْ أَبَداً.
It is said that he wrote a thesis about Gedi, but his most important discoveries were never published.
