The Star Gazer of the Sahara
الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أُرَاقِبُ النُّجُومَ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ مُنْذُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً.
I have watched stars in the Sahara for thirty years.
سَمَاءُ المَغْرِبِ مِنْ أَنْقَى السَّمَاوَاتِ.
Morocco's sky is among the purest.
جَاءَتْ عَالِمَةُ فَلَكٍ تَدْرُسُ سَمَاءَنَا.
An astrophysicist came studying our sky.
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، مَهْوُوسَةً بِالكَوْنِ.
She was in her fifties, obsessed with the universe.
"ظَلَامُ صَحْرَائِكُمْ مِثَالِيٌّ!"
"Your desert darkness is perfect!"
"لِهَذَا أَعِيشُ هُنَا."
"That's why I live here."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
أَرَيْتُهَا تِلِسْكُوبِي القَدِيمَ.
I showed her my old telescope.
"هَذَا كَنْزٌ!"
"This is a treasure!"
"رَأَيْتُ بِهِ آلَافَ المَجَرَّاتِ."
"I've seen thousands of galaxies with it."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
رَصَدْنَا النُّجُومَ مَعًا.
We observed stars together.
"هَذِهِ مَجَرَّةُ أَنْدْرُومِيدَا!"
"This is the Andromeda galaxy!"
"أَجْمَلُ مَا فِي الكَوْنِ... بَعْدَكِ."
"The most beautiful thing in the universe... after you."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
ضَحِكَتْ. "أَنَا؟ عَالِمَةٌ عَجُوزٌ."
She laughed. "Me? An old scientist."
"وَأَنَا رَاصِدٌ وَحِيدٌ."
"And I'm a lonely observer."
"لِمَاذَا وَحِيدٌ؟"
"Why lonely?"
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"زَوْجَتِي لَمْ تُحِبَّ الصَّحْرَاءَ... تَرَكَتْنِي لِلنُّجُومِ."
"My wife didn't love the desert... she left me to the stars."
"النُّجُومُ رِفَاقٌ جَيِّدُونَ."
"Stars are good companions."
"لَكِنَّهَا لَا تَحْتَضِنُ."
"But they don't embrace."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، تَحْتَ دَرْبِ التَّبَّانَةِ.
That night, under the Milky Way.
"جَسَدُكِ كَوْنٌ أَسْتَكْشِفُهُ."
"Your body is a universe I explore."
"وَأَنْتَ نَجْمِي الثَّابِتُ."
"And you are my fixed star."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
بَنَيْنَا مَرْصَدًا مَعًا.
We built an observatory together.
يَأْتِي الطُّلَّابُ مِنْ كُلِّ مَكَانٍ.
Students come from everywhere.
"عِلْمُنَا... وَحُبُّنَا... تَحْتَ سَقْفٍ وَاحِدٍ."
"Our science... and our love... under one roof."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
النُّجُومُ تَبْعُدُ مَلَايِينَ السَّنَوَاتِ الضَّوْئِيَّةِ.
Stars are millions of light-years away.
لَكِنَّ حُبَّنَا قَرِيبٌ.
But our love is close.
ضَوْءٌ لَا يَنْطَفِئُ.
A light that doesn't go out.
