الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَتَاجِرُ فِي الجِمَالِ فِي الرِّيصَانِي.
I trade camels in Rissani.
جَاءَتْ عَالِمَةٌ تَدْرُسُ طُرُقَ التِّجَارَةِ.
A scholar came studying trade routes.
"سُوقُكُمْ أَشْهَرُ سُوقٍ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ."
"Your market is the most famous in the desert."
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ، ذَكِيَّةً، شَغُوفَةً.
She was in her forties, intelligent, passionate.
"أَعْرِفُ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ عَنِ الجِمَالِ."
"I know everything about camels."
"عَلِّمْنِي."
"Teach me."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
مَشَيْنَا فِي السُّوقِ بَيْنَ الجِمَالِ.
We walked in the market among camels.
"كَيْفَ تَعْرِفُ الجَمَلَ الجَيِّدَ؟"
"How do you know a good camel?"
"بِالنَّظَرِ إِلَى عُيُونِهِ."
"By looking at its eyes."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
"مِثْلَ البَشَرِ؟"
"Like humans?"
"بِالضَّبْطِ... العُيُونُ تَحْكِي كُلَّ شَيْءٍ."
"Exactly... eyes tell everything."
"وَعُيُونِي؟ مَاذَا تَقُولُ؟"
"And my eyes? What do they say?"
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا. "تَقُولُ إِنَّكِ وَحِيدَةٌ."
I looked at her. "They say you're lonely."
"وَعُيُونُكَ تَقُولُ نَفْسَ الشَّيْءِ."
"And your eyes say the same thing."
"زَوْجَتِي مَاتَتْ قَبْلَ سَبْعِ سَنَوَاتٍ."
"My wife died seven years ago."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"أَنَا لَمْ أَتَزَوَّجْ... البَحْثُ حَيَاتِي."
"I never married... research is my life."
"لَكِنَّ الحَيَاةَ تَحْتَاجُ أَكْثَرَ."
"But life needs more."
"أَعْرِفُ... الآنَ."
"I know... now."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فِي خَيْمَتِي فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ.
That night, in my tent in the desert.
"جَسَدُكَ قَوِيٌّ كَالجَمَلِ."
"Your body is strong like a camel."
"وَأَنْتِ صَبُورَةٌ كَالصَّحْرَاءِ."
"And you are patient like the desert."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
أَكْمَلَتْ بَحْثَهَا وَنَشَرَتْهُ.
She finished her research and published it.
"شُكْرًا... عَلَّمْتَنِي الصَّحْرَاءَ."
"Thank you... you taught me the desert."
"وَأَنْتِ عَلَّمْتِنِي الحَيَاةَ."
"And you taught me life."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
الجِمَالُ تَعْبُرُ الصَّحْرَاءَ.
Camels cross the desert.
وَنَحْنُ عَبَرْنَا الوَحْدَةَ مَعًا.
And we crossed loneliness together.
حُبٌّ وُلِدَ فِي سُوقِ الجِمَالِ.
A love born in the camel market.
