الفصل الأول | Chapter One
زَوْجِي كَانَ صَيَّادًا فِي النَّاظُورِ.
My husband was a fisherman in Nador.
مَاتَ فِي البَحْرِ قَبْلَ عَشْرِ سَنَوَاتٍ.
He died at sea ten years ago.
الآنَ أَبِيعُ السَّمَكَ فِي السُّوقِ.
Now I sell fish in the market.
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
جَاءَ عَالِمُ أَحْيَاءٍ بَحْرِيَّةٍ يَدْرُسُ المِيَاهَ.
A marine biologist came studying the waters.
"أَبْحَثُ عَنْ أَنْوَاعِ السَّمَكِ المَحَلِّيَّةِ."
"I'm looking for local fish species."
"أَعْرِفُ كُلَّ سَمَكَةٍ فِي هَذَا البَحْرِ."
"I know every fish in this sea."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
كَانَ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، بِنَظَّارَاتٍ وَابْتِسَامَةٍ لَطِيفَةٍ.
He was in his fifties, with glasses and a kind smile.
"كَيْفَ تَعْرِفِينَ كُلَّ هَذَا؟"
"How do you know all this?"
"عِشْتُ مَعَ البَحْرِ طُولَ حَيَاتِي."
"I lived with the sea all my life."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
صَاحَبْتُهُ فِي رِحَلَاتِ البَحْثِ.
I accompanied him on research trips.
"هَذِهِ سَمَكَةٌ نَادِرَةٌ!" صَرَخَ.
"This is a rare fish!" he shouted.
"نَادِرَةٌ لَكَ، عَادِيَّةٌ لَنَا."
"Rare for you, common for us."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"أَنْتِ كَنْزٌ مِنَ المَعْرِفَةِ."
"You are a treasure of knowledge."
"لَا... أَنَا أَرْمَلَةُ صَيَّادٍ فَقَطْ."
"No... I'm just a fisherman's widow."
"أَنْتِ أَكْثَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ بِكَثِيرٍ."
"You are much more than that."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
ذَاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، عَلَى الشَّاطِئِ.
One night, on the beach.
"زَوْجُكِ كَانَ مَحْظُوظًا."
"Your husband was lucky."
"مَاتَ فِي البَحْرِ... كَيْفَ كَانَ مَحْظُوظًا؟"
"He died at sea... how was he lucky?"
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
"لِأَنَّهُ عَاشَ مَعَكِ."
"Because he lived with you."
دُمُوعِي سَالَتْ لِأَوَّلِ مَرَّةٍ مُنْذُ سَنَوَاتٍ.
My tears flowed for the first time in years.
ضَمَّنِي إِلَيْهِ. "لَا تَبْكِي وَحْدَكِ بَعْدَ الآنَ."
He held me close. "Don't cry alone anymore."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
أَكْمَلَ بَحْثَهُ وَنَشَرَ كِتَابًا.
He finished his research and published a book.
شَكَرَنِي فِي المُقَدِّمَةِ.
He thanked me in the preface.
"لِلْمَرْأَةِ الَّتِي عَلَّمَتْنِي البَحْرَ وَالحُبَّ."
"To the woman who taught me the sea and love."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
البَحْرُ أَخَذَ زَوْجِي.
The sea took my husband.
وَالبَحْرُ أَعْطَانِي حُبًّا جَدِيدًا.
And the sea gave me new love.
مَوْجَةٌ تَذْهَبُ وَمَوْجَةٌ تَأْتِي.
A wave goes and a wave comes.
