الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَحْرُسُ غَابَةَ المَعْمُورَةِ مُنْذُ خَمْسٍ وَعِشْرِينَ سَنَةً.
I have guarded Mamora forest for twenty-five years.
جَاءَتْ عَالِمَةُ بِيئَةٍ لِدِرَاسَةِ الغَابَةِ.
An environmental scientist came to study the forest.
"أَسْمَعُ أَنَّ هَذِهِ أَكْبَرُ غَابَةِ فِلِّينٍ فِي العَالَمِ."
"I hear this is the largest cork forest in the world."
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ، بِحَمَاسٍ حَقِيقِيٍّ لِلطَّبِيعَةِ.
She was in her forties, with genuine passion for nature.
"أَعْرِفُ كُلَّ شَجَرَةٍ هُنَا."
"I know every tree here."
"فَكُنْ مُرْشِدِي."
"Then be my guide."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
مَشَيْنَا سَاعَاتٍ فِي الغَابَةِ.
We walked for hours in the forest.
"هَذِهِ الشَّجَرَةُ عُمْرُهَا ثَلَاثُمِئَةِ سَنَةٍ."
"This tree is three hundred years old."
"أَقْدَمُ مِنَّا بِكَثِيرٍ." ضَحِكَتْ.
"Much older than us." She laughed.
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
"الغَابَةُ تُعَلِّمُنَا الصَّبْرَ."
"The forest teaches us patience."
"وَمَاذَا أَيْضًا؟"
"And what else?"
"أَنَّ الجَمَالَ يَحْتَاجُ وَقْتًا لِيَنْمُوَ."
"That beauty needs time to grow."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"أَنْتَ فَيْلَسُوفٌ."
"You're a philosopher."
"الوَحْدَةُ فِي الغَابَةِ تُعَلِّمُ التَّأَمُّلَ."
"Loneliness in the forest teaches contemplation."
"هَلْ أَنْتَ وَحِيدٌ؟"
"Are you lonely?"
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"زَوْجَتِي مَاتَتْ قَبْلَ عَشْرِ سَنَوَاتٍ."
"My wife died ten years ago."
"الغَابَةُ رَفِيقَتِي."
"The forest is my companion."
"رُبَّمَا تَحْتَاجُ رَفِيقَةً بَشَرِيَّةً أَيْضًا."
"Perhaps you need a human companion too."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فِي كُوخِ الحِرَاسَةِ.
That night, in the ranger's hut.
بَيْنَ رَائِحَةِ الفِلِّينِ وَصَوْتِ البُومِ.
Among the cork scent and owl sounds.
"جَسَدُكِ كَالغَابَةِ... غَامِضٌ وَجَمِيلٌ."
"Your body is like the forest... mysterious and beautiful."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
أَكْمَلَتْ بَحْثَهَا وَنَشَرَتْهُ.
She finished her research and published it.
شَكَرَتْنِي فِي المُقَدِّمَةِ.
She thanked me in the preface.
"لِحَارِسِ الغَابَةِ الَّذِي عَلَّمَنِي الغَابَةَ وَالحُبَّ."
"To the forest ranger who taught me the forest and love."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
الغَابَةُ تَحْفَظُ أَسْرَارَ الطَّبِيعَةِ.
The forest keeps nature's secrets.
وَتَحْفَظُ سِرَّنَا أَيْضًا.
And keeps our secret too.
حُبٌّ نَبَتَ تَحْتَ أَشْجَارِ الفِلِّينِ.
A love that grew under cork trees.
