The Ski Lodge of Ifrane
الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أُعَلِّمُ التَّزَلُّجَ فِي إِفْرَانَ مُنْذُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً.
I have taught skiing in Ifrane for twenty years.
جَاءَتْ وَحْدَهَا فِي مَوْسِمِ الثَّلْجِ.
She came alone during snow season.
"أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَتَعَلَّمَ التَّزَلُّجَ،" قَالَتْ.
"I want to learn skiing," she said.
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ، بِجَسَدٍ دَافِئٍ رَغْمَ البَرْدِ.
She was in her forties, with a warm body despite the cold.
"لَمْ يَفُتِ الأَوَانُ لِلتَّعَلُّمِ؟" سَأَلَتْ.
"Isn't it too late to learn?" she asked.
"الثَّلْجُ لَا يَعْرِفُ العُمْرَ."
"Snow knows no age."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
عَلَى المُنْحَدَرَاتِ البَيْضَاءِ، عَلَّمْتُهَا التَّوَازُنَ.
On the white slopes, I taught her balance.
يَدَايَ عَلَى خَصْرِهَا، أُسَانِدُهَا.
My hands on her waist, supporting her.
"لَا تَخَافِي... أَنَا هُنَا."
"Don't be afraid... I am here."
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
سَقَطَتْ وَسَقَطْتُ فَوْقَهَا.
She fell and I fell on top of her.
فِي الثَّلْجِ، وَجْهَانَا قَرِيبَانِ.
In the snow, our faces close.
"الثَّلْجُ بَارِدٌ... لَكِنَّ أَنْفَاسَكَ دَافِئَةٌ."
"The snow is cold... but your breath is warm."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
بَعْدَ الدَّرْسِ، دَعَوْتُهَا إِلَى الشَّالِيهِ.
After the lesson, I invited her to the chalet.
"شَايٌ سَاخِنٌ يُدَفِّئُ العِظَامَ."
"Hot tea warms the bones."
"أَنْتَ تُدَفِّئُنِي أَكْثَرَ."
"You warm me more."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
أَمَامَ المِدْفَأَةِ، جَلَسْنَا قَرِيبَيْنِ.
In front of the fireplace, we sat close.
"لِمَاذَا جِئْتِ إِلَى إِفْرَانَ وَحْدَكِ؟"
"Why did you come to Ifrane alone?"
"هَرَبًا مِنْ زَوَاجٍ بَارِدٍ."
"Escaping a cold marriage."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
"سَأُعْطِيكِ الدِّفْءَ الَّذِي تَبْحَثِينَ عَنْهُ."
"I will give you the warmth you seek."
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، بَيْنَمَا الثَّلْجُ يَسْقُطُ خَارِجًا.
That night, while snow fell outside.
وَجَدْنَا حَرَارَةً لَا تَعْرِفُهَا الجِبَالُ.
We found heat the mountains don't know.
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
بَقِيَتْ أُسْبُوعًا كَامِلاً.
She stayed a whole week.
كُلَّ يَوْمٍ تَزَلُّجٌ، وَكُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ دِفْءٌ.
Every day skiing, every night warmth.
"سَأَعُودُ الشِّتَاءَ القَادِمَ."
"I will return next winter."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
إِفْرَانُ مَكَانٌ بَارِدٌ.
Ifrane is a cold place.
لَكِنَّ بَعْضَ النَّاسِ يَجِدُونَ فِيهِ الدِّفْءَ.
But some people find warmth in it.
الدِّفْءَ الَّذِي يَأْتِي مِنَ القَلْبِ.
Warmth that comes from the heart.
