The Boat Builder of Essaouira
Chapter One
I have built boats in Essaouira for forty years.
My boats sail the Atlantic.
A maritime historian came documenting crafts.
Chapter Two
She was in her fifties, loving the sea.
"Your boats are works of art!"
"Wood speaks... I listen."
Chapter Three
She watched me work.
"Your hands know wood like a friend."
"An old friend... since childhood."
Chapter Four
"Why boats?"
"Because they carry dreams."
"And your dreams?"
Chapter Five
"I dreamed of sailing... but I stayed."
"Why?"
"My wife feared the sea... then she died."
Chapter Six
"And now?"
"Now I sail in the boats I build... in my imagination."
"Perhaps we'll sail together."
Chapter Seven
That night, to the sound of waves.
"Your body is a boat I sail in."
"And you are my captain."
Chapter Eight
She published a book about Essaouira boats.
And we finally sailed together.
"The boat of love doesn't sink."
Conclusion
Boats carry people.
And our love carried us to the shore of happiness.
A journey without end.
