The Fossil Hunter of Erfoud
الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَصْطَادُ الأَحَافِيرَ فِي أَرْفُودَ مُنْذُ عِشْرِينَ سَنَةً.
I have hunted fossils in Erfoud for twenty years.
جَاءَتْ عَالِمَةُ جِيُولُوجْيَا مِنَ الخَارِجِ.
A geologist came from abroad.
"أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَدْرُسَ ثُلَاثِيَّاتِ الفُصُوصِ."
"I want to study trilobites."
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، بِشَعْرٍ قَصِيرٍ وَنَظَّارَاتٍ.
She was in her fifties, with short hair and glasses.
"سَأُرِيكِ أَجْمَلَ الأَحَافِيرِ،" قُلْتُ لَهَا.
"I will show you the most beautiful fossils," I told her.
"فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ؟ أَنَا مُسْتَعِدَّةٌ."
"In the desert? I am ready."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
رَكِبْنَا الجِيبَ إِلَى قَلْبِ الصَّحْرَاءِ.
We rode the jeep to the heart of the desert.
"هُنَا كَانَ بَحْرٌ قَبْلَ مَلَايِينِ السِّنِينَ."
"Here was a sea millions of years ago."
"لَا أُصَدِّقُ... كُلُّ هَذَا كَانَ مَاءً!"
"Unbelievable... all this was water!"
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
وَجَدْتُ أَحْفُورَةً نَادِرَةً وَأَعْطَيْتُهَا لَهَا.
I found a rare fossil and gave it to her.
"هَذِهِ هَدِيَّتِي لَكِ."
"This is my gift to you."
"عُمْرُهَا أَرْبَعُمِئَةِ مِلْيُونِ سَنَةٍ!"
"It's four hundred million years old!"
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"الزَّمَنُ لَا مَعْنَى لَهُ هُنَا،" قُلْتُ.
"Time has no meaning here," I said.
"السِّنُّ أَيْضًا لَا مَعْنَى لَهُ."
"Age has no meaning either."
نَظَرَتْ إِلَيَّ وَاِبْتَسَمَتْ.
She looked at me and smiled.
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
فِي المُخَيَّمِ، تَحْتَ نُجُومِ الصَّحْرَاءِ.
At the camp, under desert stars.
"لَمْ أَشْعُرْ بِهَذَا الهُدُوءِ مِنْ قَبْلُ."
"I've never felt this peace before."
"الصَّحْرَاءُ تُعَلِّمُنَا الصَّمْتَ وَالجَمَالَ."
"The desert teaches us silence and beauty."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
"أَنْتَ جَمِيلٌ كَأَحَافِيرِكَ..." قَالَتْ.
"You are beautiful like your fossils..." she said.
"وَأَنْتِ اكْتِشَافِي الأَثْمَنُ."
"And you are my most precious discovery."
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فِي الخَيْمَةِ، اكْتَشَفْنَا بَعْضَنَا.
That night, in the tent, we discovered each other.
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
بَقِيَتْ شَهْرًا تَدْرُسُ الأَحَافِيرَ.
She stayed a month studying fossils.
وَكُلَّ لَيْلَةٍ كُنَّا نَدْرُسُ بَعْضَنَا.
And every night we studied each other.
"الحُبُّ كَالأَحَافِيرِ... يَدُومُ لِلْأَبَدِ."
"Love is like fossils... it lasts forever."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
أَرْفُودُ مَدِينَةُ الأَحَافِيرِ وَالأَسْرَارِ.
Erfoud is a city of fossils and secrets.
وَنَحْنُ دَفَنَّا سِرَّنَا فِي الرَّمْلِ.
And we buried our secret in the sand.
سِرًّا عُمْرُهُ مَلَايِينُ السِّنِينَ مِنَ الحُبِّ.
A secret millions of years old in love.
