The Art Deco of Casablanca
الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَعْتَنِي بِبِنَايَةٍ مِنَ الآرْتْ دِيكُو فِي الدَّارِ البَيْضَاءِ.
I care for an Art Deco building in Casablanca.
بِنَايَةٌ عُمْرُهَا تِسْعُونَ سَنَةً.
A building ninety years old.
جَاءَ مُصَوِّرُ عِمَارَةٍ يُوَثِّقُهَا.
An architecture photographer came documenting it.
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَ فِي الخَمْسِينَ، عَاشِقًا لِلْجَمَالِ القَدِيمِ.
He was in his fifties, a lover of old beauty.
"هَذِهِ البِنَايَةُ كَنْزٌ!"
"This building is a treasure!"
"أَعْرِفُ... أَعْتَنِي بِهَا مُنْذُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً."
"I know... I've cared for it for thirty years."
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
أَخَذْتُهُ فِي جَوْلَةٍ.
I took him on a tour.
"هَذِهِ الزَّخَارِفُ أَصْلِيَّةٌ مِنَ الثَّلَاثِينِيَّاتِ."
"These decorations are original from the thirties."
"لَا تُصَدَّقُ!"
"Unbelievable!"
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
صَوَّرَ كُلَّ زَاوِيَةٍ.
He photographed every corner.
"لِمَاذَا تُحِبِّينَ هَذِهِ البِنَايَةَ؟"
"Why do you love this building?"
"لِأَنَّهَا تَحْكِي قِصَّةً."
"Because it tells a story."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"وَقِصَّتُكِ أَنْتِ؟"
"And your story?"
"أَرْمَلَةٌ تَعِيشُ بَيْنَ الجُدْرَانِ القَدِيمَةِ."
"A widow living among old walls."
"الجُدْرَانُ القَدِيمَةُ تَحْفَظُ الدِّفْءَ."
"Old walls keep warmth."
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"نَعَمْ... لَكِنَّهَا لَا تُعَانِقُ."
"Yes... but they don't hug."
"رُبَّمَا أَسْتَطِيعُ أَنَا ذَلِكَ."
"Perhaps I can do that."
نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهِ. كَانَ جَادًّا.
I looked at him. He was serious.
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، فِي شُقَّتِي ذَاتِ الأَسْقُفِ العَالِيَةِ.
That night, in my high-ceilinged apartment.
"جَسَدُكِ فَنٌّ كَهَذِهِ البِنَايَةِ."
"Your body is art like this building."
"وَأَنْتَ تَعْرِفُ كَيْفَ تُصَوِّرُ الجَمَالَ."
"And you know how to capture beauty."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
نَشَرَ كِتَابًا عَنِ الآرْتْ دِيكُو فِي الدَّارِ البَيْضَاءِ.
He published a book about Art Deco in Casablanca.
بِنَايَتِي عَلَى الغِلَافِ.
My building on the cover.
"وَأَنْتِ فِي قَلْبِي."
"And you are in my heart."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
البِنَايَاتُ القَدِيمَةُ تَصْمُدُ.
Old buildings endure.
وَحُبُّنَا مَبْنِيٌّ عَلَى أُسُسٍ قَوِيَّةٍ.
And our love is built on strong foundations.
فَنٌّ لَا يَمُوتُ.
Art that doesn't die.
