The Lake Fisherman of Bin el-Ouidane
الفصل الأول | Chapter One
أَصْطَادُ فِي بُحَيْرَةِ بِينِ الوِيدَانِ مُنْذُ ثَلَاثِينَ سَنَةً.
I have fished in Bin el-Ouidane lake for thirty years.
جَاءَتْ مُهَنْدِسَةٌ تَدْرُسُ السَّدَّ.
An engineer came studying the dam.
"هَذَا السَّدُّ مُعْجِزَةٌ هَنْدَسِيَّةٌ."
"This dam is an engineering marvel."
الفصل الثاني | Chapter Two
كَانَتْ فِي الأَرْبَعِينَ، ذَكِيَّةً، عَمَلِيَّةً.
She was in her forties, intelligent, practical.
"البُحَيْرَةُ أَجْمَلُ مِنَ السَّدِّ."
"The lake is more beautiful than the dam."
"هَلْ تَعْرِفُهَا جَيِّدًا؟"
"Do you know it well?"
الفصل الثالث | Chapter Three
"أَعْرِفُ كُلَّ زَاوِيَةٍ فِيهَا."
"I know every corner of it."
"خُذْنِي فِي جَوْلَةٍ."
"Take me on a tour."
"بِقَارِبِي؟"
"In my boat?"
الفصل الرابع | Chapter Four
خَرَجْنَا فِي القَارِبِ عِنْدَ الفَجْرِ.
We went out in the boat at dawn.
المَاءُ هَادِئٌ كَالمِرْآةِ.
The water calm as a mirror.
"هَذَا سَلَامٌ حَقِيقِيٌّ."
"This is real peace."
الفصل الخامس | Chapter Five
"لِمَاذَا جِئْتِ وَحْدَكِ؟"
"Why did you come alone?"
"زَوْجِي تَرَكَنِي... قَالَ إِنَّنِي أُحِبُّ العَمَلَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ."
"My husband left me... said I love work more than him."
"هَلْ كَانَ صَادِقًا؟"
"Was he right?"
الفصل السادس | Chapter Six
"رُبَّمَا... لَكِنَّ هَذَا تَغَيَّرَ."
"Perhaps... but that's changed."
"مَاذَا تَغَيَّرَ؟"
"What changed?"
"أَنَا... بَدَأْتُ أَرَى الجَمَالَ."
"I... started seeing beauty."
الفصل السابع | Chapter Seven
تِلْكَ اللَّيْلَةَ، عَلَى شَاطِئِ البُحَيْرَةِ.
That night, on the lake shore.
"جَسَدُكَ قَوِيٌّ كَالسَّدِّ."
"Your body is strong like the dam."
"وَأَنْتِ عَمِيقَةٌ كَالبُحَيْرَةِ."
"And you are deep like the lake."
الفصل الثامن | Chapter Eight
أَكْمَلَتْ دِرَاسَتَهَا وَعَادَتْ.
She finished her study and returned.
لَكِنَّهَا تَعُودُ كُلَّ صَيْفٍ.
But she returns every summer.
"لِلْبُحَيْرَةِ... وَلَكَ."
"For the lake... and for you."
الخاتمة | Conclusion
البُحَيْرَةُ هَادِئَةٌ عَلَى السَّطْحِ.
The lake is calm on the surface.
وَعَمِيقَةٌ فِي الدَّاخِلِ.
And deep inside.
مِثْلَ حُبِّنَا.
Like our love.
