פרק ראשון | Chapter One
The beit midrash was quiet. Netanel and Yosef studied together.
"אני לא מבין את הגמרא הזאת," Yosef said. "I don't understand this Gemara."
"בוא נקרא ביחד." "Let's read together."
Their heads close. Their voices mingled. Something stirred.
פרק שני | Chapter Two
"?אתה מרגיש את זה?" Netanel asked one night. "Do you feel it?"
"?מה?" "What?"
"את מה שיש בינינו." "What's between us."
Silence. Then: "כן. ואני מפחד." "Yes. And I'm scared."
"גם אני." "Me too."
פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
"זה אסור," Yosef said. "This is forbidden."
"אני יודע מה התורה אומרת." "I know what the Torah says."
"אז איך אתה יכול—" "So how can you—"
"כי הלב שלי לא קורא תורה." "Because my heart doesn't read Torah."
פרק רביעי | Chapter Four
The roof of the yeshiva. Jerusalem spread below.
"!נתנאל... אם יתפסו אותנו!" "Netanel... if they catch us!"
"אני לא יכול להמשיך להתעלם." "I can't keep ignoring this."
"!אבל החיים שלנו—המשפחות" "But our lives—the families!"
"הבורא ברא אותי ככה. למה?" "God created me this way. Why?"
פרק חמישי | Chapter Five
They left the yeshiva. Not the faith—but the walls.
"?אתה עדיין מאמין?" "Do you still believe?"
"אני מאמין שאלוהים אוהב אותי." "I believe that God loves me."
"?גם אחרי הכל?" "Even after everything?"
"בגלל הכל." "Because of everything."
They found a community. Modern Orthodox, accepting. Not easy, but possible.
