The coral reef was dying. Dr. Ana came to study why.
"?את צוללת טוב?" asked the boat captain, Yoni. "Do you dive well?"
"עשרים שנה." "Twenty years."

Underwater. Colors she'd never seen.
"!זה... מדהים" she signed. "This is... amazing!"
"?ידעת שיש לנו את זה בישראל" "Did you know we had this in Israel?"
"!לא" "No!"
He smiled through his mask.
פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
"אני גרושה," she told him that night. "I'm divorced."
"גם אני." "Me too."
"?מה קרה?" "What happened?"
"הים. זאת האהבה היחידה שלי." "The sea. It's my only love."
"?זה לא בודד?" "Isn't that lonely?"
"לפעמים." "Sometimes."

Night dive. Just them.
"!זה מסוכן!" "This is dangerous!"
"אני פה." "I'm here."
Underwater, words didn't matter. Bodies communicated.

Her research extended. Then extended again.
"?את נשארת?" "Are you staying?"
"הים הזה צריך הצלה." "This sea needs saving."
"?רק הים?" "Only the sea?"
"והקברניט שלו." "And its captain."
