The Writer's Block

by Anastasia Chrome|2 min read|
"Novelist Amira hasn't written in two years. When she retreats to a Bradford cottage and meets Zain—the caretaker with his own creative past—she finds inspiration in unexpected places."

The Writer's Block

"The cottage hasn't been rented in months."

Amira looked at the caretaker. Handsome, quiet, watching her with eyes that saw too much.

"Perfect for avoiding distractions."

"What are you avoiding?"

"My publisher. My deadline. My complete inability to write." She laughed bitterly. "The usual."

Zain appeared daily—bringing supplies, fixing things, finding excuses to check on her.

"You're not writing," he observed after a week.

"Very perceptive."

"I'm an artist. Sculptor." He paused. "Was. Same problem."

"What fixed it?"

"Nothing yet. But isolation wasn't the answer." He sat beside her. "Sometimes you need friction to spark."

The friction between them was undeniable.

They talked art, creativity, the terror of empty pages and blank canvases. He understood in ways no one in London ever had.

"You're my muse," Amira said one evening, surprising them both.

"I'm your distraction."

"Same thing." She moved closer. "Stay. Please."

He stayed.

They made love in the cottage where nothing had been created for years—and something new was born.

"Meri jaan," Zain breathed, moving inside her. "You make me want to create again."

"Same." She pulled him closer. "Make something with me."

She started writing the next day. He started sculpting.

Their works emerged together—her novel featuring a brooding artist, his series featuring a woman finally free.

"This is our story," Amira realized.

"The best ones always are." He kissed her. "Let me be part of your next chapter. Forever."

The novel became her bestseller—dedicated to "Z, who taught me that creative blocks can be solved together."

The sculptures sold out.

Best collaboration either of them ever created.
