The Desi Divorce
"Divorce lawyer Sameera specializes in helping Pakistani women escape bad marriages. When client Rania's ex starts threatening, her handsome bodyguard Khalid becomes more than protection."
The Desi Divorce
"I need protection."
Sameera looked up from her desk at the woman across from her. Rania's divorce had been brutal—her ex-husband didn't believe Pakistani women could leave.
"He's been following me. My children." Rania's voice shook. "The police won't help until something happens."
"Then we'll get you private security." Sameera made a call.
Khalid arrived like something out of a film—tall, built, silent in that way trained soldiers were.
"Former SAS," he explained. "Specialized in personal protection."
"And you're Pakistani?"
"Is that a problem?"
"It's an advantage. You'll understand what we're dealing with."
His eyes held hers. "I always understand."
Protecting Rania meant long hours together. Khalid became a fixture—at the office, during home visits, anywhere Sameera went in case threats extended to the lawyer.
"You don't have to shadow me personally," she said one late night.
"The husband blames you for 'corrupting' his wife. I'm not leaving you unprotected."
"Very noble."
"Very necessary." He stepped closer. "And not entirely professional. I've been wanting to say—"
A noise outside. Khalid moved instantly, shielding her with his body.
Nothing. A cat.
But he didn't move away.
"Khalid..."
"I know this is wrong timing. The case isn't over. But I can't—" He cupped her face. "I can't stop thinking about you, Sameera. Your fire, your dedication, the way you fight for women who've lost hope."
"I think about you too." She pulled him down. "This is still wrong timing."
"I don't care."
Wrong timing didn't stop them.
Khalid was as thorough in intimacy as in protection—learning her responses, adapting his approach, determined to pleasure her completely.
"Meri jaan," he breathed, entering her. "I'll protect you forever. In all ways."
"Less words, more action."
He complied—with devastating effectiveness.
"The case is over," Sameera said weeks later. Rania was safe; the ex in custody. "You can go."
"I'm not going anywhere." Khalid took her hand. "Unless you want me to."
"I want you to stay."
"Then stay I will." He kissed her knuckles. "I protected you professionally. Now let me do it personally. Forever."
They married quietly—just family and Rania as witness.
Sameera kept taking cases. Khalid kept protecting her.
Some partnerships were meant to be permanent.
