The sukkah was shared between two apartments.
"?את רוצה לאכול ביחד?" asked her neighbor. "Do you want to eat together?"
"אני לא דתייה." "I'm not religious."
"גם אני לא. אבל אני אוהב לראות כוכבים." "Neither am I. But I like to see stars."
פרק שני | Chapter Two
His name was Eitan. Writer. Lonely.
"?למה אתה גר לבד?" "Why do you live alone?"
"כי אני כותב בלילה." "Because I write at night."
"?על מה אתה כותב?" "What do you write about?"
"על דברים שאני מפחד להגיד בקול." "About things I'm afraid to say out loud."
פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
Seven nights. Seven meals. Seven conversations.
"הסוכה הזאת זמנית," she said. "This sukkah is temporary."
"הכל זמני." "Everything is temporary."
"?וזה לא מפחיד?" "And that's not scary?"
"זה משחרר." "It's freeing."
פרק רביעי | Chapter Four
Under the schach. Stars visible.
"?מה אתה רוצה לכתוב עכשיו?" "What do you want to write now?"
"עליך." "About you."
"?למה?" "Why?"
"כי את הדבר הכי יפה שראיתי מתחת לסכך." "Because you're the most beautiful thing I've seen under the schach."
פרק חמישי | Chapter Five
The sukkah came down. The connection remained.
"?אני אראה אותך גם אחרי החג?" "Will I see you after the holiday too?"
"אני גרה ליד." "I live nearby."
"?וזה מספיק?" "And that's enough?"
"זו התחלה." "It's a beginning."
