פרק ראשון | Chapter One
The seder was awkward. His ex-wife. Her new boyfriend. Their children.
"?מה נשתנה הלילה הזה?" "Why is this night different?"
"כי אתה כאן," she said. "Because you're here."
פרק שני | Chapter Two
Dan watched them together. Happy.
"?אתה בסדר?" asked his son. "Are you okay?"
"אני משתדל." "I'm trying."
"?זה קשה לך?" "Is this hard for you?"
"כן. אבל זה חשוב." "Yes. But it's important."
פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
The new boyfriend approached. "תודה שבאת." "Thank you for coming."
"הילדים רצו." "The kids wanted it."
"?ואתה?" "And you?"
"אני רציתי לראות שהם מאושרים." "I wanted to see them happy."
פרק רביעי | Chapter Four
"מצאתי אחר," she told him privately. "I found someone else."
"אני רואה." "I see."
"?אתה שמח בשבילי?" "Are you happy for me?"
"אני מנסה להיות." "I'm trying to be."
"זה הדבר הכי יפה שאמרת לי אי פעם." "That's the most beautiful thing you've ever said to me."
פרק חמישי | Chapter Five
The seder ended. He drove home.
"?למדת משהו הלילה?" "Did you learn something tonight?"
He asked himself in the mirror.
"שחופש זה לא רק לצאת ממצרים. זה לצאת מהעבר." "That freedom isn't just leaving Egypt. It's leaving the past."
