The Water Diviner
الفصلُ الأَوَّلُ: المَوْهِبَةُ الغَرِيبَةُ
Chapter One: The Strange Gift
وُلِدَ عامِرٌ فِي قَرْيَةٍ فَقِيرَةٍ فِي صَحْراءِ الشَّرْقِيَّةِ. مُنْذُ طُفُولَتِهِ، كانَ يَشْعُرُ بِشَيْءٍ غَرِيبٍ: كانَ يَسْمَعُ الماءَ تَحْتَ الأَرْضِ!
Aamir was born in a poor village in the Sharqiyah desert. Since childhood, he felt something strange: he could hear water underground!
ضَحِكَ مِنْهُ أَهْلُ القَرْيَةِ: «أَنْتَ مَجْنُونٌ يا عامِرُ! كَيْفَ تَسْمَعُ الماءَ؟»
The villagers laughed at him: "You are crazy, Aamir! How can you hear water?"
لَكِنَّ جَدَّتَهُ قالَتْ: «هَذِهِ مَوْهِبَةٌ مِنَ اللهِ يا وَلَدِي. لا تُضَيِّعْها.»
But his grandmother said: "This is a gift from God, my child. Do not waste it."
الفصلُ الثَّانِي: إِنْقاذُ القَرْيَةِ
Chapter Two: Saving the Village
حِينَ جَفَّتِ الآبارُ فِي قَرْيَتِهِ، قالَ عامِرٌ: «أَنا أَعْرِفُ أَيْنَ الماءُ!»
When the wells in his village dried up, Aamir said: "I know where the water is!"
مَشَى يُصْغِي إِلى الأَرْضِ، حَتَّى وَقَفَ عِنْدَ مَكانٍ بَعِيدٍ. قالَ: «اِحْفُرُوا هُنا!»
He walked listening to the ground, until he stopped at a distant place. He said: "Dig here!"
حَفَرُوا وَهُمْ يَشُكُّونَ. لَكِنْ بَعْدَ عَشَرَةِ أَذْرُعٍ، انْفَجَرَ الماءُ! كانَ عَذْبًا غَزِيرًا كَأَنَّهُ نَهْرٌ!
They dug with doubt. But after ten arm-lengths, water gushed forth! It was sweet and abundant like a river!
الفصلُ الثَّالِثُ: خادِمُ الماءِ
Chapter Three: The Servant of Water
انْتَشَرَتْ شُهْرَةُ عامِرٍ. جاءَهُ النَّاسُ مِنْ كُلِّ مَكانٍ يَطْلُبُونَ مُساعَدَتَهُ. لَكِنَّهُ رَفَضَ أَيَّ أَجْرٍ.
Aamir's fame spread. People came from everywhere seeking his help. But he refused any payment.
قالَ: «الماءُ هِبَةُ اللهِ، وَمَوْهِبَتِي هِبَةٌ مِنْهُ. كَيْفَ أَبِيعُ ما لا أَمْلِكُ؟»
He said: "Water is God's gift, and my talent is a gift from Him. How can I sell what I do not own?"
سافَرَ فِي أَنْحاءِ عُمانَ، يُنْقِذُ القُرَى وَيُحْيِي الواحاتِ. وَحِينَ ماتَ، بَكاهُ النَّاسُ كَما يَبْكُونَ أَباهُمْ، وَسَمَّوْهُ «خادِمَ الماءِ».
He traveled throughout Oman, saving villages and reviving oases. When he died, people wept for him as they would for their father, and called him "The Servant of Water."
