الفصلُ الأَوَّلُ: المَوْهِبَةُ المَخْفِيَّةُ
Chapter One: The Hidden Gift
مُنْذُ طُفُولَتِها، كانَتْ آمِنَةُ تَسْمَعُ أَصْواتًا لا يَسْمَعُها الآخَرُونَ. هَمَساتٌ قادِمَةٌ مِنْ مَكانٍ بَعِيدٍ، تَتَحَدَّثُ بِلُغَةٍ قَدِيمَةٍ.
Since her childhood, Amina would hear voices others could not hear. Whispers coming from a distant place, speaking in an ancient tongue.
ظَنَّها النَّاسُ مَجْنُونَةً. لَكِنَّ جَدَّتَها فَهِمَتْ. قالَتْ: «هَذِهِ مَوْهِبَةُ الأَجْدادِ. بَعْضُ النِّساءِ فِي عائِلَتِنا يَسْمَعْنَ أَصْواتَ مَنْ رَحَلُوا.»
People thought her mad. But her grandmother understood. She said: "This is the gift of ancestors. Some women in our family hear the voices of those who departed."
عَلَّمَتْها كَيْفَ تَسْتَمِعُ وَتَفْهَمُ.
She taught her how to listen and understand.
الفصلُ الثَّانِي: الخَطَرُ القادِمُ
Chapter Two: The Coming Danger
ذاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، سَمِعَتْ آمِنَةُ الأَصْواتَ تَصْرُخُ بِوُضُوحٍ: «الماءُ قادِمٌ! الوادِي سَيَمْتَلِئُ! اِهْرُبُوا!»
One night, Amina heard the voices screaming clearly: "Water is coming! The valley will fill! Flee!"
نَظَرَتْ إِلى السَّماءِ: صافِيَةٌ بِلا غُيُومٍ. كَيْفَ سَيَأْتِي سَيْلٌ؟
She looked at the sky: clear without clouds. How would a flood come?
لَكِنَّها ثِقَتْ بِأَجْدادِها. ذَهَبَتْ إِلى شَيْخِ القَبِيلَةِ وَحَذَّرَتْهُ.
But she trusted her ancestors. She went to the tribal chief and warned him.
ضَحِكَ وَقالَ: «أَنْتِ مَجْنُونَةٌ! السَّماءُ صافِيَةٌ!»
He laughed and said: "You are mad! The sky is clear!"
الفصلُ الثَّالِثُ: السَّيْلُ المُدَمِّرُ
Chapter Three: The Devastating Flood
لَمْ تَسْتَسْلِمْ آمِنَةُ. ذَهَبَتْ مِنْ بَيْتٍ لِبَيْتٍ تُحَذِّرُ. بَعْضُهُمْ سَمِعَ لَها وَصَعَدَ إِلى الجَبَلِ.
Amina did not give up. She went from house to house warning. Some listened and climbed the mountain.
وَفِي مُنْتَصَفِ اللَّيْلِ، جاءَ السَّيْلُ! أَمْطارٌ غَزِيرَةٌ سَقَطَتْ فِي الجِبالِ البَعِيدَةِ، وَجَرَى الماءُ نَحْوَ الوادِي.
At midnight, the flood came! Heavy rain had fallen on distant mountains, and water rushed toward the valley.
مَنِ اسْتَمَعَ لِآمِنَةَ نَجا. وَمَنْ سَخِرَ مِنْها فَقَدَ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ.
Those who listened to Amina survived. Those who mocked her lost everything.
الفصلُ الرَّابِعُ: الحَكِيمَةُ المُكَرَّمَةُ
Chapter Four: The Honored Sage
بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ، صارَتْ آمِنَةُ حَكِيمَةَ القَبِيلَةِ. يَأْتِيها النَّاسُ لِيَسْأَلُوها عَنِ المُسْتَقْبَلِ.
After that, Amina became the tribe's sage. People came to ask her about the future.
قالَتْ: «أَنا لا أَعْرِفُ المُسْتَقْبَلَ. لَكِنَّ أَجْدادِي يُرْشِدُونَنِي. هُمْ حَوْلَنا دائِمًا، يَحْمُونَنا.»
She said: "I do not know the future. But my ancestors guide me. They are always around us, protecting us."
وَعَلَّمَتِ ابْنَتَها كَيْفَ تَسْمَعُ الأَصْواتَ، لِيَبْقَى الجِسْرُ بَيْنَ الأَحْياءِ وَالأَمْواتِ.
She taught her daughter how to hear the voices, so the bridge between the living and the dead would remain.
