The Orphan Sultan

Chapter One: The Unknown Child

In the streets of Muscat, a child lived who knew not his family. People called him "Hazz" (Luck) because they found him miraculously alive after a storm destroyed a boat.

Hazz lived in the markets, doing any work to eat. But he was very intelligent, memorizing everything he heard.

He would sit by gatherings, listening to scholars' and merchants' conversations, and learning.

Chapter Two: The Golden Opportunity

One day, Hazz heard merchants planning to steal the Sultan's treasury. He hurried and told the guards.

The thieves were arrested, and the Sultan asked to see the child who saved his wealth.

He asked him: "What do you want as a reward?"

Hazz said: "I want to learn, O my lord."

The Sultan was impressed and brought him into his palace to learn with his sons.

Chapter Three: The Orphan's Rise

Hazz excelled over all the princes' sons. He learned jurisprudence, politics, and warfare. He became the Sultan's advisor despite his young age.

When the Sultan died without an heir, the council of elders chose Hazz to be the new ruler!

People said: "How can a street orphan rule us?"

Chapter Four: The Just Sultan

Hazz ruled with justice Oman had never seen. Because he knew poverty, he understood the poor. Because he knew injustice, he hated injustice.

He built schools for orphans. He said: "Every orphan may be a sultan. Let us give him the chance."

He came to be called "The Just Sultan," and generations passed down his story.
