The Lost City of Ubar
الفصلُ الأَوَّلُ: الأُسْطُورَةُ المَمْنُوعَةُ
Chapter One: The Forbidden Legend
تَحَدَّثَتِ الكُتُبُ القَدِيمَةُ عَنْ مَدِينَةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ تُدْعَى «أُوبار» أَوْ «إِرَمَ ذاتَ العِمادِ». كانَتْ أَغْنَى مَدِينَةٍ فِي العالَمِ، تُتاجِرُ بِاللُّبانِ وَالذَّهَبِ.
Ancient books spoke of a great city called "Ubar" or "Iram of the Pillars." It was the richest city in the world, trading in frankincense and gold.
لَكِنَّ اللهَ غَضِبَ عَلى أَهْلِها لِطُغْيانِهِمْ، فَأَرْسَلَ عَلَيْهِمْ رِيحًا صَرْصَرًا، وَابْتَلَعَتْهُمُ الرِّمالُ!
But God was angered by its people's tyranny, so He sent upon them a fierce wind, and the sands swallowed them!
قِيلَ إِنَّ المَدِينَةَ ما زالَتْ مَوْجُودَةً تَحْتَ الصَّحْراءِ، مَعَ كُنُوزِها العَظِيمَةِ.
It was said the city still exists beneath the desert, with its great treasures.
الفصلُ الثَّانِي: الباحِثُ المَجْنُونُ
Chapter Two: The Mad Seeker
عاشَ فِي صَلالَةَ رَجُلٌ يُدْعَى أَحْمَدُ بنُ سَعِيدٍ، مَهْوُوسٌ بِأُوبار. قَضَى حَياتَهُ يَدْرُسُ الخَرائِطَ القَدِيمَةَ وَيَجْمَعُ القِصَصَ.
In Salalah lived a man named Ahmad bin Sa'id, obsessed with Ubar. He spent his life studying ancient maps and collecting stories.
قالَ لَهُ النَّاسُ: «أُوبار خُرافَةٌ! تَوَقَّفْ عَنِ الجُنُونِ!»
People said to him: "Ubar is a myth! Stop this madness!"
لَكِنَّهُ رَدَّ: «الخُرافاتُ تَحْمِلُ حَقائِقَ. المَدِينَةُ مَوْجُودَةٌ، وَسَأَجِدُها.»
But he replied: "Myths carry truths. The city exists, and I shall find it."
الفصلُ الثَّالِثُ: الاِكْتِشافُ
Chapter Three: The Discovery
بَعْدَ ثَلاثِينَ عامًا مِنَ البَحْثِ، وَجَدَ أَحْمَدُ دَلِيلاً حاسِمًا: خَرِيطَةً قَدِيمَةً تُظْهِرُ طُرُقَ القَوافِلِ، كُلُّها تَلْتَقِي فِي نُقْطَةٍ واحِدَةٍ فِي صَحْراءِ الرُّبْعِ الخالِي!
After thirty years of searching, Ahmad found decisive evidence: an ancient map showing caravan routes, all meeting at one point in the Empty Quarter desert!
ذَهَبَ إِلى هُناكَ مَعَ فَرِيقٍ صَغِيرٍ. حَفَرُوا فِي الرِّمالِ... وَوَجَدُوها!
He went there with a small team. They dug in the sand... and found it!
أَعْمِدَةٌ حَجَرِيَّةٌ ضَخْمَةٌ، وَجُدْرانٌ مُنْهارَةٌ، وَآثارُ مَدِينَةٍ عَظِيمَةٍ ابْتَلَعَها حُفْرَةٌ فِي الأَرْضِ!
Huge stone pillars, collapsed walls, and traces of a great city swallowed by a sinkhole in the earth!
الفصلُ الرَّابِعُ: الدَّرْسُ الأَبَدِيُّ
Chapter Four: The Eternal Lesson
وَقَفَ أَحْمَدُ بَيْنَ أَطْلالِ أُوبار، وَدُمُوعُهُ تَسِيلُ. ثَلاثُونَ عامًا مِنَ البَحْثِ تَكَلَّلَتْ بِالنَّجاحِ.
Ahmad stood among the ruins of Ubar, his tears flowing. Thirty years of searching crowned with success.
لَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَأْخُذْ شَيْئًا. قالَ: «هَذِهِ المَدِينَةُ دُمِّرَتْ بِسَبَبِ الطَّمَعِ. لَنْ أَكُونَ مِثْلَ أَهْلِها.»
But he took nothing. He said: "This city was destroyed because of greed. I shall not be like its people."
سَجَّلَ اكْتِشافَهُ لِلْعالَمِ، وَصارَتْ أُوبار مَوْقِعًا أَثَرِيًّا تَزُورُهُ الأَجْيالُ.
He recorded his discovery for the world, and Ubar became an archaeological site visited by generations.
قالَ أَحْمَدُ: «أُوبار لَيْسَتْ مُجَرَّدَ مَدِينَةٍ. إِنَّها تَحْذِيرٌ: الحَضارَةُ الَّتِي تَنْسَى اللهَ تَنْتَهِي تَحْتَ الرِّمالِ.»
Ahmad said: "Ubar is not just a city. It is a warning: a civilization that forgets God ends beneath the sands."
