The Ghost Ship of Quriyat
الفصلُ الأَوَّلُ: الرُّؤْيَةُ المُرْعِبَةُ
Chapter One: The Terrifying Vision
كانَ صَيَّادُو قُرَيَّاتَ يَعْرِفُونَ البَحْرَ كَما يَعْرِفُونَ وُجُوهَ أَبْنائِهِمْ. لَكِنْ كانَ هُناكَ شَيْءٌ واحِدٌ يُرْعِبُهُمْ: سَفِينَةٌ سَوْداءُ تَظْهَرُ فِي لَيالِي المُحاقِ.
The fishermen of Quriyat knew the sea as they knew the faces of their children. But there was one thing that terrified them: a black ship that appeared on moonless nights.
قالَ شَيْخُ الصَّيَّادِينَ: «هَذِهِ سَفِينَةُ الأَشْباحِ! مَنْ يَقْتَرِبُ مِنْها لا يَعُودُ!»
The elder of fishermen said: "This is the ghost ship! Whoever approaches it never returns!"
لَكِنَّ شابًّا يُدْعَى عَلِيًّا لَمْ يُصَدِّقْ. قالَ: «لا أَشْباحَ وَلا جِنَّ! سَأَذْهَبُ وَأَكْشِفُ الحَقِيقَةَ!»
But a youth named Ali did not believe. He said: "No ghosts and no jinn! I shall go and uncover the truth!"
الفصلُ الثَّانِي: اللَّيْلَةُ الحالِكَةُ
Chapter Two: The Pitch-Dark Night
فِي لَيْلَةٍ بِلا قَمَرٍ، أَبْحَرَ عَلِيٌّ وَحْدَهُ. وَبَعْدَ ساعاتٍ، رَآها: سَفِينَةٌ ضَخْمَةٌ سَوْداءُ، لا أَشْرِعَةَ لَها وَلا أَضْواءَ.
On a moonless night, Ali sailed alone. After hours, he saw it: a huge black ship, with no sails and no lights.
اقْتَرَبَ مِنْها رَغْمَ خَوْفِهِ. صَعِدَ عَلى سَطْحِها فَوَجَدَها فارِغَةً... أَوْ هَكَذا ظَنَّ.
He approached it despite his fear. He climbed onto its deck and found it empty... or so he thought.
فَجْأَةً، سَمِعَ صَوْتًا يَأْتِي مِنْ بَطْنِ السَّفِينَةِ. صَوْتَ بُكاءٍ وَتَوَسُّلٍ!
Suddenly, he heard a sound coming from the belly of the ship. The sound of weeping and pleading!
الفصلُ الثَّالِثُ: كَشْفُ السِّرِّ
Chapter Three: Unveiling the Secret
نَزَلَ عَلِيٌّ إِلى العَنابِرِ فَوَجَدَ مَفاجَأَةً مُذْهِلَةً: عَشَراتُ الرِّجالِ وَالنِّساءِ مُقَيَّدِينَ بِالسَّلاسِلِ! كانُوا عَبِيدًا مَخْطُوفِينَ يُراد بَيْعُهُمْ فِي أَسْواقِ الشَّرْقِ!
Ali descended to the holds and found an astonishing surprise: dozens of men and women bound in chains! They were kidnapped people intended to be sold as slaves in the Eastern markets!
فَهِمَ عَلِيٌّ كُلَّ شَيْءٍ: «سَفِينَةُ الأَشْباحِ» كانَتْ سَفِينَةَ تِجارَةِ عَبِيدٍ! وَأُسْطُورَةُ الأَشْباحِ كانَتْ حِيلَةً لِإِبْعادِ الفُضُولِيِّينَ!
Ali understood everything: the "ghost ship" was a slave trading vessel! And the legend of ghosts was a trick to keep the curious away!
الفصلُ الرَّابِعُ: البَطَلُ المُنْقِذُ
Chapter Four: The Hero Rescuer
عادَ عَلِيٌّ مُسْرِعًا إِلى القَرْيَةِ وَجَمَعَ الصَّيَّادِينَ. هاجَمُوا السَّفِينَةَ وَقَتَلُوا تُجَّارَ العَبِيدِ، وَحَرَّرُوا المَأْسُورِينَ.
Ali returned swiftly to the village and gathered the fishermen. They attacked the ship and killed the slave traders, and freed the captives.
صارَ عَلِيٌّ بَطَلاً، وَانْتَهَتْ أُسْطُورَةُ السَّفِينَةِ المَلْعُونَةِ.
Ali became a hero, and the legend of the cursed ship ended.
قالَ لِلصَّيَّادِينَ: «لا تَخافُوا الأَشْباحَ. فَأَكْثَرُ الوُحُوشِ رُعْبًا هِيَ مِنْ صُنْعِ البَشَرِ.»
He said to the fishermen: "Do not fear ghosts. For the most terrifying monsters are made by humans."
