The Conspirators

الفصلُ الأَوَّلُ: الحارِسُ اليَقِظُ

Chapter One: The Vigilant Guard

كانَ سالِمٌ حارِسًا بَسِيطًا فِي قَصْرِ السُّلْطانِ. لَمْ يَكُنْ غَنِيًّا وَلا ذا نَسَبٍ عَظِيمٍ، لَكِنَّ وَلاءَهُ لِلسُّلْطانِ كانَ أَقْوَى مِنَ الحَدِيدِ.

Salim was a simple guard in the Sultan's palace. He was neither wealthy nor of great lineage, but his loyalty to the Sultan was stronger than iron.

ذاتَ لَيْلَةٍ، سَمِعَ هَمَساتٍ غَرِيبَةً خَلْفَ الجِدارِ. تَسَلَّلَ وَاسْتَمَعَ.

One night, he heard strange whispers behind the wall. He crept closer and listened.

كانَ ثَلاثَةٌ مِنَ الوُزَراءِ يُخَطِّطُونَ لِقَتْلِ السُّلْطانِ!

Three ministers were planning to kill the Sultan!

الفصلُ الثَّانِي: المُخاطَرَةُ الكُبْرَى

Chapter Two: The Great Risk

فَكَّرَ سالِمٌ: «إِذا أَخْبَرْتُ السُّلْطانَ، قَدْ لا يُصَدِّقُنِي. أَنا حارِسٌ بَسِيطٌ وَهُمْ وُزَراءُ أَقْوِياءُ!»

Salim thought: "If I tell the Sultan, he might not believe me. I am a simple guard and they are powerful ministers!"

لَكِنَّهُ قَرَّرَ المُخاطَرَةَ. اِنْتَظَرَ حَتَّى لَيْلَةِ التَّنْفِيذِ. وَحِينَ دَخَلَ المُتَآمِرُونَ غُرْفَةَ السُّلْطانِ بِسُيُوفِهِمْ، قَفَزَ أَمامَهُمْ!

But he decided to take the risk. He waited until the night of execution. When the conspirators entered the Sultan's chamber with their swords, he leaped in front of them!

صَرَخَ: «اِحْذَرْ يا مَوْلايَ!» وَقاتَلَ الثَّلاثَةَ وَحْدَهُ!

He screamed: "Beware, my lord!" and fought the three alone!

الفصلُ الثَّالِثُ: البَطَلُ المُكَرَّمُ

Chapter Three: The Honored Hero

جُرِحَ سالِمٌ جِراحًا عَمِيقَةً، لَكِنَّهُ أَخَّرَ المُتَآمِرِينَ حَتَّى وَصَلَ الحُرَّاسُ الآخَرُونَ.

Salim was deeply wounded, but he delayed the conspirators until other guards arrived.

أُعْدِمَ المُتَآمِرُونَ، وَعُولِجَ سالِمٌ أَفْضَلَ عِلاجٍ. حِينَ شُفِيَ، اسْتَدْعاهُ السُّلْطانُ.

The conspirators were executed, and Salim was given the best treatment. When healed, the Sultan summoned him.

قالَ: «أَنْتَ أَنْقَذْتَ حَياتِي بِجَسَدِكَ. ماذا تُرِيدُ مُكافَأَةً؟»

He said: "You saved my life with your body. What reward do you want?"

قالَ سالِمٌ: «أُرِيدُ أَنْ أَبْقَى حارِسًا يا مَوْلايَ. هَذا شَرَفِي وَوَظِيفَتِي.»

Salim said: "I want to remain a guard, my lord. This is my honor and my duty."

جَعَلَهُ السُّلْطانُ قائِدًا لِحُرَّاسِ القَصْرِ، وَبَقِيَ مُخْلِصًا حَتَّى آخِرِ يَوْمٍ فِي حَياتِهِ.

The Sultan made him commander of the palace guards, and he remained loyal until the last day of his life.
