The Good Fence. Israel's northern edge. Avi watched it every night.
"?מי את?" he asked the woman walking alone. "Who are you?"
"מישהי שצריכה שקט." "Someone who needs quiet."
"פה אין שקט. יש רק שמירה." "There's no quiet here. Only watching."
פרק שני | Chapter Two
She stayed at the small hotel. Didn't talk to anyone.
"?את בורחת ממשהו" "You're running from something."
"?מי לא?" "Who isn't?"
"אני לא." "I'm not."
"?אז למה אתה פה בקצה העולם?" "So why are you here at the edge of the world?"
פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
"אני לא יכולה לספר לך מי אני." "I can't tell you who I am."
"?ממשלה?" "Government?"
"משהו כזה." "Something like that."
"אז יש לנו משהו במשותף." "Then we have something in common."
פרק רביעי | Chapter Four
Two weeks. No names. No past.
"!זה לא יכול להימשך ככה!" "This can't continue like this!"
"למה לא?" "Why not?"
"!כי אני רוצה לדעת מי את באמת!" "Because I want to know who you really are!"
"אני מי שאני כשאני איתך." "I'm who I am when I'm with you."
פרק חמישי | Chapter Five
She left. No goodbye. Just a note.
"תודה על השקט. אולי נתראה שוב."
"Thanks for the quiet. Maybe we'll see each other again."
He kept watching the border. Hoping she'd return. Some mysteries never get solved.
