The kibbutz pool was Oded's kingdom. Sunburned children by day, quiet water by night.
Until Daniela started coming for midnight swims.
"אני מזכירת הקיבוץ חתמה לי אישור," she said. "The kibbutz secretary signed permission for me."

She swam like a mermaid. Slow, graceful.

פרק שלישי | Chapter Three
"הבעל שלך—" "Your husband—"
"לא מתעניין. לא כבר עשר שנים." "Isn't interested. Not for ten years."
"אבל אם יגלו—" "But if they find out—"
"בקיבוץ, כולם יודעים הכל. ואף אחד לא מדבר." "In the kibbutz, everyone knows everything. And no one talks."
פרק רביעי | Chapter Four
The pool at midnight. Her body wet, gleaming in moonlight.
"!דניאלה... מישהו יראה" "Daniela... someone will see!"
"מי? הילדים ישנים. המבוגרים עייפים." "Who? The kids are sleeping. The adults are tired."
"!את משגעת אותי" "You're driving me crazy!"
"זאת הכוונה." "That's the intention."
פרק חמישי | Chapter Five
Summer ended. He left the kibbutz.
"?למה" "Why?"
"כי לא יכולתי להמשיך לראות אותך עם הבעל שלך." "Because I couldn't keep seeing you with your husband."
"אז תישאר. אני אעזוב אותו." "Then stay. I'll leave him."
"?את תעזבי את הקיבוץ" "You'll leave the kibbutz?"
"אני אעזוב הכל בשבילך." "I'll leave everything for you."
She did. The kibbutz gossiped for years. They didn't care.
