פרק ראשון | Chapter One

Paris was behind her. Israel was everything new.

"?את מרגישה אבודה" asked Yoav, her absorption counselor. "Do you feel lost?"

"כל יום," Camille admitted. "Every day."

"קצת. בצרפת אנחנו יותר עדינים." "A bit. In France we're more delicate."

"אולי ישירות זה דבר טוב." "Maybe directness is a good thing."

"?למה" "Why?"

"כי אני אגיד לך ישירות: את מעניינת אותי." "Because I'll tell you directly: you interest me."

פרק שלישי | Chapter Three

"זה נגד הכללים, לא?" "This is against the rules, isn't it?"

"אני הייתי היועץ שלך. עכשיו אני רק יואב." "I was your counselor. Now I'm just Yoav."

"?אתה עושה ככה עם כל העולות" "Do you do this with all the female immigrants?"

"רק עם הצרפתיות היפות שלא מפסיקות לחייך למרות הקושי." "Only with the beautiful French women who don't stop smiling despite the difficulty."

פרק רביעי | Chapter Four

Her small apartment in Ashdod. Learning Israel in every way.

"!ישראל כל כך שונה" "Israel is so different!"

"?ממה?" "From what?"

"מכל מה שדמיינתי." "From everything I imagined."

"?יותר טוב או יותר גרוע" "Better or worse?"

"יותר אמיתי." "More real."

פרק חמישי | Chapter Five

A year later, she spoke fluent Hebrew. Had an Israeli boyfriend. Was Israeli.

"?את מתגעגעת לפריז" "Do you miss Paris?"

"לפעמים. לקרואסון. לשפה." "Sometimes. The croissants. The language."

"?וללב" "And your heart?"

"הלב שלי כאן." "My heart is here."

She'd come seeking a country. She'd found a home.
